| A Yummy Soup |
 |
|
This delicious soup recipe was given to me by my
step-daughter Stephanie. Russian Velvet Soup
Yield: 6 servings 1 T. Olive oil 1 Large onion,
chopped 1 Medium carrot, chopped 2 Red Beets, peeled and
chopped 6 C. Water 1 C. Red lentils, washed and
drained 3 Bay leaves 1 T. Sea salt 2-3 T. Red wine
vinegar 1. In a large soup pot, heat oil, and sauté onion
until translucent and lightly browned 2. Stir in carrots
and beets, and sauté another two minutes 3. Add water,
lentils, bay leaves, and salt. Bring to boil, then lower heat
and simmer, partially covered, 25-30 minutes 4. Remove bay
leaves. Let soup cool slightly, then puree in small batches in
blender 5. Stir in vinegar after all the soup has been
pureed and returned to the pot Serve warm garnished with
some chopped dill Optional: you may add left-over diced
ham, roast beef or chicken to this soup and reheat. Watch
overdoing this soup. Lentils are high in carbohydrate (25
grams per 8oz) and may be undigestible for some people unless
digestive enzymes are used.

| Warm Feet Make for a Good Night Sleep |
 |
|
When I was growing up, we lived in a big old farmhouse on
the edge of the ocean in a pretty little town on Vancouver
Island. Mom and Dad slept downstairs next to the bathroom and
we three kids slept in the attractive but drafty bedrooms
upstairs. It was hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
We'd bundle up in our pyjamas and often a sweater and head off
to bed with our socks and hot-water bottles. I still use a hot
water bottle on occasion especially if we are travelling and I
always sleep better if my feet are warm. I'm a big fan of
Larry Frieders compounding pharmacist of The Compounder in
Chicago. He always has great information. Here is what
Larry says about the importance of warm feet!
"We had this idea that by wearing socks to bed a person
would get a better night's sleep. After all, we bundle our
newborns up and put booties on them - and they sleep like
babies. The idea had been bouncing around for a few years and
we had an opportunity to test the idea. We enrolled 32
people to participate in our study. The participants were
asked to wear socks and to warm the foot of their bed with a
hot water bottle. They are very inexpensive and last a long
time. Just add hot tap water before bed and you're all set.
We discovered that warm feet and wearing socks to bed
equates to better sleep."
Check out the results
of the study.

| A book I like |
 |
|
Breakfast at Sally's is probably one of the most
heart-warming books that I have ever read. It was given to me
at a meditation retreat. It is the story of a once
prosperous business man who saw his fortunes change over
night. In this astonishing memoir, Richard LeMieux describes
his descent into homelessness and his eventual triumph over
personal struggle and economic disaster. Since I read this
book in late December, I have been more cognisant of homeless
people. I have given a dollar or two to panhandlers and have
not brushed them off as being freeloaders capable of working.
This book taught me that we know so little of the
circumstances of people living on the streets. Extreme poverty
can exist on the doorstep of an incredibly affluent society.
This book will change your mind as it did mine. It is a
wonderful read. Click on the book cover to see more.

| Personal Responsibility |
 |
|
Like so many of you I was moved and captivated by the
Inauguration of Barack Obama last week. His line "What
is required of us now is a new era of responsibility" can mean
many things. Responsibility towards our neighbors, each other
and all humanity as well as ourselves. These few words
describe what I personally believe about every one of us
taking care of ourselves on the physical level. We must take
personal responsibility for our lives and our own
health. Too many people rely upon drugs or "the system" to
solve their medical problems when a few pro-active lifestyle
changes can prevent the decline into ill health. Diabetes is
preventable, so is cancer. I hope 2009 is the year that YOU
get healthy.
Here is the link
to listen to "America's Song" that was especially crated for
the inauguration - it could be symbolic of your inauguration -
your new beginning.

| Oprah on BHRT and Follow the Money Tail |
 |
|
I hope you got a chance to see the program last week on
Bio-Identical Hormones. These are plant-based hormone
compounds that are the exact match for our human hormones.
Finally, Oprah becomes a voice for millions of women
struggling with hormone fluctuations especially during
menopause. Oprah interviewed Robin McGraw and one of my
fellow Hay House authors Dr Christianne Northrup who was
extremely informative about BHRT. Even Dr Oz, who I like very
much (he has a great heart and an open mind) was very
interested in the results that BHRT expert Dr Prudence Hall is
achieving with her patients.
But did you catch what Dr. Wulf Utian had to say about
Bio-Identical (natural) hormones? He was not positive about
them although they have been studied for many years. He's the
expert who says that there at 13 essential equine "horse"
hormones that women need. Indeed! Well, when you follow
the money trail to Dr Utian, here is what you'll
find. "Wulf H. Utian, MD, PhD, DSc(Med) and is the
Executive Director of The North American Menopause
Society. Dr. Utian reports: Consultant/Advisory Board:
Berlex, Bradley Pharma, Depomed, Duramed, Gerson Lehman,
GlaxoSmithKline, Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson,
McKinsey, Merck, Novo Nordisk, Orcas Therapeutics, Organon,
Pfizer, Wyeth. Of the 14 members of the board 7 have a
stated relationship with Wyeth and a total of 9 of 14 have a
relationship with one or more pharmaceutical companies." No
wonder he is pitching conventional HRT when these big drug
companies are paying him to be their spokesman, a fact not
mentioned on the show.
Although the program was excellent, there is a lot more to
be discussed on the subject. I have created a 4 hour CD set
The Body Knows About Hormones which addresses
the subject of natural hormone balancing which I know you will
find very informative. Having been on bio- identical hormones
myself for the last 5 years I know the benefits personally.

I met Miluna when she attended my Medical Intuitive
Training three years ago. I knew right away that she was
special. She had beautiful pure energy and was an experienced
counselor. She wanted to add the "physical piece" to her
practice. She has continued to study with me and has given
presentions on the hazards of EMF frequencies at several of my
conferences. Her health story is amazing too. She survived a
brain tumor and the course of her healing journey has
developed into a thriving holistic health practice. Visit
Making
Wellness Fun
Miluna is also a powerful singer and voice coach. I always
encourage people to express themselves creatively. Miluna does
this in her new CD "WOMAN" which is a powerful wailing blues
ballad of wellness and power paying tribute to the soul and
spirit of a woman.
Take a listen.

I been following your guidance and advice for the last few
months. My blood tests are amazing! My cholesterol dropped
from 256 to 200, all of the other blood levels that were out
of range a few months ago - adrenals, thyroid, etc., are all
fine and in range. The swelling I had is gone, etc. My
nutritionist asked me what I have been doing and I mentioned
your name and explained your program. She was amazed. She said
even if a doctor had prescribed medication they might not have
seen results like mine. I want to simply say THANK YOU!!
You have truly opened my eyes to good health, hormone
balancing and the pursuit of a much healthier
path. Mary M., Chicago IL
